Rockwood Music Hall - Gat 5 - Joseph King Trio

Hey Austin and the world beyond NYC. I'm here to tell you about Thurday night's extravaganza on Allen Street in the Lower East Side of NYC.

Rockwood Music Hall was the venue. Some would say 2 venues. Rockwood is a VERY intimate spot for music and drinks, with a side room for more music and drinks. On Thursday, May 31, 2007, the side room was also host of the Gat5.collider.nyc. On hand were works by Austin based Val Brown, James Ferraro, and artist, promoter, filmmaker Charles Ferraro. Music was the anchor for the art, with NYC's newest hot thing Joseph King and the Joseph King Trio (get this, it's 4, count 'em 4 guys). The music inspired the masses to dance, an amazing feat in the space that was beyond capacity! The nice thing about Rockwood is that one can be in one of the two spaces or even on Allen Street and still be a part of the scene. The art was an eclectic mix of urban styles, displayed in non-conventional ways, as can be attested to in the photos. Another Austin based talent, Drew Nix, took the stage following Joseph, keeping that Texas sabor goin all night long!

If you missed the Gat 5 show in the big apple, all is not lost, as according to styleshaker.com "The Brothers will be exhibiting a collaborative multimedia piece in the silent auction benefiting the H.O.P.E. campaign. The H.O.P.E. campaign empowers individuals to take action on Darfur through music, art and culture. Proceeds support Global Grassroots' work in Africa and advocacy for the crisis. The group exhibition will feature a collection of artists such as Shepard Fairey, James Ganzer and the photography of Brian Steidle. The benefit will take place on Darfur Observance Day at the Bradley Tower in LA City Hall from 7 to 10pm."

The Joseph King Trio will be rocking the stage at The Annex on Orchard Street, in Lower East Side, on June 14th. Be there!!
